About the Furbabies Crew Candi Moon - Instructor Candi instructs the Furbabies puppy, clicker and Pro Pups classes as well as private lessons.
Candi is a life-long dog lover who has been keeping dogs since the age of four. She currently shares her life with five dogs, Border Collies Faolan and Strega, Border Collie Basenji mix Ozzy, Labrador Hagan and cross breed Freya, who she works in obedience, manwork, working trials and agility. The household also includes four rescue cats and one very patient husband. After assisting and teaching in various training classes in the Johannesburg area, Candi saw a need for classes in her area, specifically to address the needs of dog owners in a fairly dense urban environment, and opened her Furbabies Training School in June 2008. Her experience, extensive education and commitment to ongoing studies in her field ensure a top notch training experience for Furbabies dogs and handlers. Candi is a firm believer in working with the dog and showing him or her what sort of behaviour we do want, rather than punishing behaviour we don't like and not presenting opportunities for the dog to make us happy. She is devoted to helping to keep dogs in homes using proper early socialisation and training and by encouraging owner education. In her spare time she enjoys going for long walks with her own dogs, singing, reading, watching movies and spending time with friends. Lelani Reichert - Assistant
Lelani assists in the Sunday morning puppy and clicker classes. Lelani is an adoring fan of dogs and cannot remember a
time in her life when a dog was not her faithful companion and best friend. She
currently shares her life with two beautiful Bassets who she trains in obedience and fun agility. They have been additions
to her life after losing her basset Jewel to illness in 2009. Abundance
(tri-color) lives up to her name in every respect and Poetry is truly a
sensitive inspiration to the soul. Lelani is qualified as a Registered Counselor with 4 degrees in Psychology, including her Master’s degree. She is certified in certain aspects of metaphysics and drama and furthermore ASCA trained, which is a program supporting survivors of childhood abuse. She is currently undergoing a course in basic dog behavior through the Ethology Academy. Jewel has truly inspired her to learn more about dogs and their needs and how to sensitively and respectfully train them to be little non-humans that will be equipped to deal with life. Her hobbies include studying, spending quality time with her own dogs and being with her family as often as possible. She believes in respecting the unique personalities of all and connecting with the spirit of humans and animals in order to facilitate real growth. |
