Puppy Classes
Why enroll in puppy training classes?
Want to have a great dog? A dog who is easy to live with? The importance of good puppy training and socialisation cannot be overemphasised.
Puppies between the ages of 3 and 18 weeks are going through the most important learning stage of their lives. Starting out right with a good puppy class is the best way to prevent problems before they have a chance to begin. At this stage in your dog's life learning is incredibly fast and you can quickly and easily start your puppy on error free learning or conversely allow bad habits to develop that will result in your dog behaving in an out of control manner or ultimately ending up unwanted. While any dog is capable of learning, never again will training be this simple. Puppy school is your tool to make sure that your puppy develops into a great companion.
What will I learn in puppy classes?
In puppy classes you will begin training your puppy to be an enjoyable companion in your household in a fast, easy and fun manner.
We will cover:
* Getting started with obedience training; sit, lie down, walk nicely on lead, stay, leave, settle and much more.
* How to cope easily with common puppy issues such as house training, barking, jumping up, digging, leash pulling, biting and chewing.
*
Ongoing socialisation to people and dogs, understanding your puppy's
body language and training good canine communication skills.
* To come reliably when called.
* Bite inhibition; teaching your pupppy to have a soft, gentle, safe mouth.
* Help for owners whose pups get carsick, are fearful or afraid of loud noises.
* Teaching self-control for a well-mannered pup.
* Exposing your puppy to novel stimuli such as mild noises, different surfaces, the puppy tunnel and weave poles etc., to develop confidence and body awareness. Confident puppies are much more able to deal with new experiences as adults, rather than reacting by displaying fear or aggression.
* Preparing your puppy for grooming, vet visits and all the other things he or she will be expected to deal with in day to day life.
* Specific help for owners with two puppies.
